Prabowo Welcomes Brazilian President’s Business Visit to Indonesia

Prabowo Subianto, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, showed great excitement and enthusiasm for Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s initiative to bring hundreds of Brazilian entrepreneurs to Indonesia. This positive statement was made by Prabowo after a productive bilateral meeting with Lula at Palácio do Planalto in Brasília on Wednesday (July 9).

During the meeting, Prabowo expressed a warm welcome to the plan of bringing Brazilian businesspeople to Indonesia, highlighting how this move could significantly boost cooperation between the two countries, especially in terms of trade and investment. Emphasizing the potential for real and concrete collaboration, Prabowo underscored the shared interests and vast possibilities for economic relations between Indonesia and Brazil.

Acknowledging the similarities between Indonesia and Brazil concerning large populations, abundant natural resources, and biodiversity, Prabowo emphasized the importance of turning cooperation agreements into tangible actions. He praised Brazil’s advancements in agriculture and bioenergy, expressing Indonesia’s eagerness to learn from Brazil’s achievements in these areas.

Additionally, Prabowo appreciated President Lula’s support for Indonesia’s initiative to send more technical teams to study Brazil’s innovations and agricultural technologies. He highlighted the willingness of Lula and his ministers to welcome Indonesia’s teams for learning purposes.

Apart from the official state visit to Brasília, Prabowo also participated in the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro during his visit to Brazil. Looking ahead, President Lula is expected to visit Indonesia in October, where plans for a celebratory event in Jakarta for Lula’s 80th birthday are in the works.
