The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) showcased a historic moment by leading France’s esteemed Bastille Day military parade along the famous Champs-Élysées in Paris. This marked a significant milestone in the diplomatic relations between Indonesia and France, as it was the first time TNI troops were chosen as the lead contingent in the annual military procession, commemorating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
A total of 260 TNI soldiers, accompanied by 189 members of the combined military marching band, put on a remarkable performance that was precise, spirited, and vibrant. Their ceremonial uniforms, adorned with helmets featuring symbols like tigers, eagles, sharks, and seals, symbolized the unique identity and pride of Indonesia’s armed service branches, making a lasting impression on the spectators, including French President Emmanuel Macron, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, and the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal al-Ahmad al-Sabah.
The Indonesian contingent’s energetic appearance garnered enthusiastic applause from the crowds, with international media outlets like BFMTV, TV5 Monde, Ouest France, and L’Union giving them extensive coverage. Indonesia’s role as the guest of honor in the parade, with over 450 troops participating, highlighted the deepening strategic partnership between Indonesia and France, especially within the Indo-Pacific framework.
“This recognition of Indonesia’s growing presence on the international stage is a significant achievement,” quoted a representative from the Indonesian delegation. The vibrant Indonesian drumline and the overall captivating performance at the Bastille Day parade in Paris won global praise and admiration, solidifying Indonesia’s position on the world stage.
