Indonesia’s National Children’s Day, celebrated annually, holds significant importance beyond just festivity. President Prabowo Subianto aims to translate this day into tangible actions that safeguard the future of the nation’s children. The government, as highlighted by Dedek Prayudi, a Senior Expert at the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), has launched three key programs focusing directly on children’s welfare. These initiatives include Nutritious Free Meals (MBG), Free Health Checkups (CKG), and School Revitalization. MBG, also known as Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG), is not merely about feeding children but ensuring they receive essential daily nutrition. With alarming statistics showing 60% of school-aged children attending classes on an empty stomach, the program is crucial. The lack of breakfast not only affects focus and energy levels but also contributes to broader health issues like anemia. Furthermore, almost 38% of school-aged children suffer from anemia, emphasizing the critical need for programs like MBG. Alongside MBG, the Free Health Checkups aim to monitor various aspects of student health, aligning with constitutional rights to healthcare services and overall health. Lastly, the School Revitalization Program targets the renovation of over 11,000 schools to address structural issues that hinder the learning environment. President Prabowo has allocated substantial funds from the national budget to support this initiative, recognizing the urgency in providing safe and dignified learning spaces for children across Indonesia. These efforts underscore the government’s commitment to nurturing a healthy, educated, and empowered youth population, setting the stage for a brighter future.
