Indonesia recently celebrated its 80th Independence Day with a flag-lowering ceremony at Merdeka Palace, setting the stage for a solemn and emotional event. Jakarta resident Titi Nurdianti, hailing from Cilacap, Central Java, shared her experience of securing a ticket for the ceremony, describing the intense online competition as a ‘war-like’ situation, where Indonesians raced to click the fastest. Finally successful in obtaining a ticket, Titi was overcome with joy and emotions as she stood at Merdeka Palace, witnessing the ceremony in person for the first time.

Previously having only seen the flag-lowering ceremony on TV, Titi was excited to be part of the live event on August 17, 2025. She decided to honor the occasion by wearing traditional attire from West Nusa Tenggara, dressed in a striking red outfit. The celebratory parade that followed the ceremony, leading towards the National Monument, added to the grandeur of this year’s Independence Day festivities, creating lasting memories for Titi.
