Top performance from Nicolo Bulega as he outpaced El Turco in both Friday sessions at Jerez. Despite finishing second behind the Aruba.it Ducati rider in FP1, the gap widened in the afternoon session, where Razgatlioglu ended up fourth-fastest behind the Ducati Panigale V4R riders.
After Free Practice 2, the #1 rider started to doubt his setup due to the unfavorable conditions at Jerez. He pushed his team to work harder to prepare a faster BMW M1000RR.
“It wasn’t a fantastic start on Friday, I did my best. We had a test here before, but the conditions were better back then. The weather is different now, not as hot, which changes the feel of the bike.”
“We need to find the best setup for the race. Even in P2, I was not very happy. We still need to find the best setup. It’s not too bad, but slower than Bulega. We just need a better setup. We still have one more chance to understand the bike conditions again,” he said.
Razgatlioglu expressed pessimism about his chances of winning on Saturday, especially with Bulega leading by 39 points.
“I think Bulega topped the two sessions because he’s always strong on this track. He’s likely to be strong again in Superpole. I will do my best, maybe we will compete in lap times. I will focus more on the race after a good qualifying.”
“Realistically, winning on Saturday won’t be easy. Bulega’s speed is very strong. If we can improve, maybe we can fight in the race.”
