President Prabowo Subianto has announced a bold target to expand the Free Nutritious Meal Program (Makan Bergizi Gratis / MBG) to reach 82.9 million children throughout Indonesia by the end of 2025. During the 27th anniversary of the National Awakening Party (PKB) at the Jakarta Convention Center, he emphasized the importance and urgency of this initiative. Prabowo shared a touching story from his recent visit to Central Java, where he witnessed the high demand for the program. The sight of schoolchildren and teachers asking for nutritious meals along the road deeply moved him and inspired him to push for the acceleration of the program’s implementation. His goal is to have 20 million children benefit from the program by mid-August, with a vision to ultimately reach 82.9 million children by December 2025.
Prabowo highlighted that the global community is beginning to take notice of Indonesia’s efforts, with other nations showing interest in learning from the program. Despite the ambitious target set, Prabowo emphasized the importance of delivering tangible results to match his optimism.
