Prabowo Commends Anwar Ibrahim for Mediating Thailand-Cambodia Conflict

President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, lauded Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his successful mediation efforts that led to a ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia. The accolades were expressed during their bilateral meeting at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday. President Prabowo commended Anwar for his leadership as the Chair of ASEAN and his achievement in securing peace between the two countries. He assured Anwar of Indonesia’s support, not only as the Prime Minister of Malaysia but also as the current Chair of ASEAN. The President emphasized the importance of peaceful conflict resolution through consultation, negotiation, and consensus among ASEAN nations. He stressed the significance of mediation as the most effective approach, especially for Southeast Asian countries with shared cultural and historical backgrounds. Prabowo was accompanied by senior members of the Red and White Cabinet in welcoming Prime Minister Anwar, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono.
