Corey Lajoie made a quick stop at his favorite coffee shop before heading to Rockingham Speedway on Friday morning. While waiting for his order, he struck up a conversation that reflected his mindset as a seasoned 34-year-old entering a new venture in the Craftsman Truck Series with Kaulig RAM Racing. As Lajoie shared, he missed the thrill of working towards a goal, which led him to accept the opportunity presented by president Chris Rice and RAM Racing.
The project at Kaulig and RAM is still in its early stages, lacking an operational simulation program and only four races old. Given his experience in building programs from scratch, such as at Spire Motorsports, Lajoie understands the potential for growth and success within this new alliance. He acknowledges the challenges but is enthusiastic about contributing to the team’s development and helping his teammates become more successful.
While reflecting on missed opportunities in his racing career, especially at Spire, Lajoie emphasizes the importance of personal growth and mentorship in his current role. He aims to provide guidance and support to his fellow drivers, fostering a culture of teamwork and progress.
