Chris Gabehart was recently spotted attending a NASCAR event at Bristol Motor Speedway over the weekend, and this has raised concerns at Joe Gibbs Racing. The team has accused Gabehart of violating a temporary restraining order that was issued in the midst of an ongoing lawsuit between him and Joe Gibbs Racing. The lawsuit alleges that Gabehart breached the non-compete provisions of their previous work agreement and was involved in a scheme to steal trade secrets while negotiating his current position at Spire Motorsports.
In response, Joe Gibbs Racing filed a lawsuit against Gabehart seeking over $8 million in damages and later added Spire as a defendant in the case. As part of the legal proceedings, a restraining order was issued by Judge Susan C. Rodriguez, allowing Gabehart to continue working with Spire while also stating limitations on his activities related to his previous role at JGR.
Despite the restraining order, Gabehart has been seen attending NASCAR Cup Series races and was recently photographed by JGR in what they claim as a violation of the court’s order. Evidence presented by Ty Gibbs social media manager David Biro and competition director Wally Brown included photos of Gabehart involved in activities that were deemed inappropriate according to the court order.
It was alleged that Gabehart engaged in competition director level activities during the races at Bristol, which contradicted the terms of the restraining order. Joe Gibbs Racing emphasized the importance of addressing these violations, as there are concerns about Gabehart potentially using procured trade secrets on behalf of Spire Motorsports. The team also highlighted the need to monitor Gabehart’s conduct to ensure compliance with the court’s order. This ongoing legal battle continues to unfold as both parties seek resolution and accountability.
